Mediumship is a profound journey of connection, not just with the spirit world but also with oneself. Central to this journey are the twin pillars of trust and Surrender. For those who walk the path of mediumship or are curious about the deep bond between a medium and the spirit world, understanding the importance of these elements is crucial. In this article, we'll delve into the significance of trust and Surrender in mediumship and provide a simple meditation to help you connect with your spirit guide.
The Foundation of Trust
Trust, in the context of mediumship, is multifaceted. Firstly, it's the trust a medium place in the spirit world. It's the belief that the spirit world will come through with accurate and meaningful messages. This trust is essential because doubt can create a barrier, inhibiting the free flow of communication.
Secondly, trust also pertains to the relationship with oneself. A medium must trust their abilities, intuition, and the sensations they receive. This self-trust is developed through practice, experience, and validation over time.
Finally, trust extends to those receiving the messages. They must trust the medium and the process to open themselves up to the messages from the spirit world. This mutual trust creates an energy that facilitates clearer communication.
Embracing Surrender
While trust is about belief and confidence, Surrender is about letting go. In mediumship, Surrender means letting go of the need to control the session, the outcomes, or the messages that come through. It's about allowing the spirit world to take the lead.
Surrendering doesn't mean becoming passive. It means becoming an open vessel, free from the clutter of preconceived notions or expectations. In this state of openness, the spirit world can communicate most effectively.
A medium who has yet to learn the art of Surrender may inadvertently block messages or, worse, misinterpret them. Just as a radio needs to be correctly tuned to pick up a station, a medium needs to be in a state of surrendered receptivity to pick up clear messages from the spirit world.
Working Alongside Spirit Guides
Every medium has spirit guides – benevolent spiritual entities that aid in the process of mediumship. These guides act as intermediaries, facilitating the connection between the medium and the spirits trying to communicate. Trusting and surrendering to these guides is crucial.
Building a relationship with one's spirit guide is akin to any other relationship—it requires time, patience, and mutual understanding. The deeper the bond, the clearer the messages.
A Meditation to Connect with Your Spirit Guide and Foster Trust
Find a quiet space where you won't be disturbed. Sit or lie down comfortably.
1. Grounding: Begin by taking deep breaths, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth. Visualise roots extending from your feet deep into the Earth, grounding and anchoring you.
2. Protection: Imagine a bubble of white light surrounding you, keeping you safe and protected from any negative energies.
3. Intent: Set your intention to connect with your spirit guide. Mentally or verbally state, "I wish to connect with my spirit guide in love and light."
4. Journey: Envision a beautiful garden or forest, a safe haven for your spirit. As you walk this space, notice a figure in the distance. This figure is your spirit guide. As you approach them, please take note of their appearance and any feelings or sensations you experience.
5. Communication: Greet your spirit guide. You can ask them for their name, or any messages they have, or express your gratitude for their guidance.
6. Trust and Surrender: Allow any messages to flow to you without judgment. Trust that what you receive is for your highest good.
7. Closure: When you feel the session is complete, thank your spirit guide and watch as they retreat into the serene landscape.
8. Return: Visualize the white light surrounding you again, then imagine the roots from your feet slowly retracting. Slowly become aware of your surroundings, and when ready, open your eyes.
Remember, connecting with your spirit guide is a journey. The more you practice, the deeper your connection and understanding will become.
Conclusion
Mediumship is a sacred dance of trust and Surrender. A medium can serve as an authentic bridge between realms by fostering a relationship based on these principles with the spirit world and one's spirit guide. Embracing trust and Surrender ensures the integrity, clarity, and depth of the messages received, offering solace, guidance, and insight to those in need.
